Well Americans. Faced with a tough choice and you chose that!
Seriously?? You. Chose. THAT! What's funny is the amount of people claiming they would move to Canada if Trump won. What's sad is that you didn't do enough to stop it, hello, preliminaries. I feel so bad for my American friends, the good sort who don't deserve to have him as their president. I feel for ya guys and hope the next four years isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Ya know what else is funny? The Move to Canada website crashed after the election and a lot of Americans googling how to. Well guess what? Ya can't claim to be refugees and ya can't just pack up and move in. (I would seriously turn you back around and kick your ass back to your house). While I would welcome some Americans into Canada, the lot of you, you made this mess, you can damn well stay and deal with the aftermath. Good luck with the new President! He's a dirty rotten, inhumane asshole but ya chose him, so deal with it. Maybe in four years, you will have finally learned from your mistakes and look for Real Change! Ya know, something better than a Two Party system. Who even decided THAT was a good idea? WTF? Hopefully, America doesn't crash and burn in the meantime. But I'm not holding my breath. #ProudtobeCanadian

I am sure everyone following the story is aware the fire is still blazing in Alberta. It seems a good deal of Fort McMurray was spared, however they did lose 2,400 structures. They have no gas, no electricity and no useable water.
Russia, the US, Mexico and other countries have offered assistance in the fire, including Russia's massive Water Bombers, but PM Trudeau has declined the offers stating that all resources in Canada that can be used are being used. That everything that can be humanly done is being done. This fire is so Huge that it is just not possible to fight this by human effort. It's like spitting on a campfire and expecting it to go out. It has showered a bit, but not enough to make it effective. This fire has been blazing for a week now and it looks like there is no end in sight. It needs to downpour. C'mon Mother Nature, what are you waiting for? I have been staying in the loop on the firestorm on and off all day. The inferno has stretched to over 1500 km and could double in size by the end of the day. The inferno could reach Saskatchewan by the end of the day as well.
Firefighters and officials are saying the fire could burn for weeks!!! They are saying the only way to fight this fire effectively is with a massive downpour. Everyone is on high alert to be able to react quickly depending on wind changes and gusts. They are hoping the inferno moves northeast to a forested area and away from communities. If you haven't heard, Fort McMurray was mostly lost to an uncontrollable Wildfire. The entire city was evacuated, many residents having left with just their clothes on their back, their families and pets. They drove through falling embers, and felt the heat of the inferno as they evac'd on the only highway that leads into and out of Fort McMurray. If you don't know, the highway only leads North and South. Unfortunately, part of the Highway became blocked and those that went North became trapped and those that went South had to be re-evac'd when the Wildfire changed direction again. This Inferno is NOT out, it has been going since Tuesday and has turned into its OWN weather system. They CAN NOT seed the clouds anymore than they are and the Water Bombs are NOT helping. This fire is massive and has stretched to approximately 1000 km and could DOUBLE in Size. The entire area has not seen a lot of rain and the forests have become little more than kindling. Luckily enough, there has been No casualities thus far. Everyone has evac'd safely and those that remained were evac'd. They have had to airlift 1000's of people out of the area. The devastation is real and heartbreaking. There is so much that can be said about this. So many stories of people who have lost their possessions. So many that need aid, so many that have lost their homes and have no idea where to go from here. Police are assembling convoys to help vehicles leave the affected areas. Essential personnel stayed behind to vent the trucks, the oxygen and anything else that could explode near the firefighters. The response was quick, but incredibly heart breaking. You can see the time line of the disaster There are a lot of dash cam's capturing just what these Albertans had to drive through. No sound, but you can see the damage caused by the firestorm Hopefully it begins to rain.
Hopefully the wind changes in favor of the firefighters long enough to get the fire under control. Hopefully it is all over soon. Ok, so while I was at work I had one of our tech guys install and load an SSD with Win10 and luckily enough my alienware has two internal storage bays so my old hard drive I am going to reformat it here shortly after I back up my saves, library, mods, etc. And then reinstall everything. I am hoping this is going to work, but it will probably be awhile before I can do any simming stuff so, wish me luck If I run into an issue, for those that I am in a competition, I may just need to make a new sim. I really don't want to load every single one of them to the exchange, if it will even work.
On a brighter note, with the SSD, running TS4 should making the loading times cut down drastically. It takes 11 seconds to load my operating system from there so .. .YAY! Might be worth giving it another chance. It's only the base anyway, and I probably have room for a couple of EPs but I'd have to be real picky. So it looks like I may have been having an allergic reaction and that it wasn't a throat virus after all. The red spots (hives?) and swelling in my throat have gone down. Thing is, I am pretty sure this is a new allergy as I had been developing hives on my neck when I ate. Right now I am living off of smoothies and Breakfast Essentials as it I know I can handle it and I have been fine ever since.
I will be taking a trip to an allergist out of province, so I'll update later on that. So I ended up getting a sore throat on Friday. Got on some medicine and Halls and was on the mend from the cold/flu by Monday. Only thing was I wasn't eating much as my tongue and throat were(are) enlarged. It didn't hurt after my throat was no longer sore, but it was 3 days of trying to eat one meal a day. It got to the point that anything solid that went in my mouth was spit out. It was basically like, "Nope! Ain't happenin'"
Today I went into work tried to eat a bit of leftover pizza and same result. So day four and very little food and I was pretty shaky and pale, going back and forth between pale and flushed in seconds. I did not even make it through my shift. I was gone before the morning meeting was over. Had to wait at the hospital for quite a few hours before I was seen. It appears I have a virus, not strep thankfully. I gave a throat swab but I can't take much for it until they know what they are dealing with, but even then he said that viruses don't typically show up on swabs. He said eat ice cream and pudding and other such stuff and then just ride out the virus for now and results should be at my family doctor's by Friday. Can't say I'm complaining about the prescribed food *cheesy grin*. End of the line in playing the Sims. The game is no longer fully functional on my laptop and in all honesty, it's time for a new one, but I don't have the money for it. So sims is taking a step back for a good long while. After I finish my competition up that I am hosting, you won't be seeing me much on the forums, not that anyone was now anyways.
The only thing I will be continuing is being a Writer for Just Sims Magazine. I had to step back as a Sim Creator, because, well crappy laptop can't play crappy game. Surprised? Nope! And really, I've lost the drive to even play the game or to even open the game. I had one competition that I was in left. It was in the Semi-Finals and I would have loved to have seen it through to the end. Vi is an amazing host and I would have pushed myself to complete it. However, uninstall and reinstall later and the loading screen is still freezing the laptop to the point I have to power it off just to use it again. When I am able to get my new computer, months from now, I don't know if I will be picking the sims back up. I've lost interest in the Sims 4 with every new announcement/trailer, and I don't know if I would want to reinstall all of the games on my new computer. I will probably do some giveaways down the road with what remains of my points. Please do not gift me anything, as it will be a waste of money. Finally, I have met some really nice people here who I would love to remain friends with. If you have Facebook and would like to remain in touch, please let me know. I will also be spending some time on a story I created in Grade 8 and revamping it, so if you are interested in being a reader, please let me know and I will email you the link and password to view it. So Long Simmers! (Not really going anywhere right now, hosting Simiverse and a writer for Just Sims, but ya know this blog is about to get Personal) It was a late start but we've gotten a fair amount of snow and the entire province had shut down not to long after the snow had started.
It is still gusting with very strong winds and about 16,000 were without power (luckily I wasn't one of them). About 600 remain without power now. My car is also luckily not buried, however, all of the snow plows have been taken off the road due to poor visibility. They are also advising a late start to the day tomorrow as the winds are supposed to continue into late tomorrow morning as well. They are also saying the worst is yet to come as the winds are supposed to pick up drastically overnight. On the bright side, +10 on Saturday with the sun shining. Nothing has started as yet. Although the wind is starting to pick up. The winds are forecasted to go as high as 110 km/hr as well as some flooding along the shore line. I'm close to the water but hopefully far enough away to get any of the flooding.
Anyway, better go make the final preparations, just in case. |
